LIFE SENTENCE FOR MAN KILLING TWO

Columbia – A Richland County jury found Demetrick Doctor, age 49, guilty of two counts of Murder and one count of Attempted Murder.  The case began with jury selection on Monday, April 18, 2022 and concluded on Friday April 22nd.  The Honorable Jocelyn Newman sentenced Demetrick Doctor to Life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Jurors heard testimony that on the evening of October 2, 2019, defendant had an encounter with the victim, Justin Glenn.  The next day, Defendant Doctor drove to the incident location on Ballenton Road, exited his car, and ambushed the victims, Justin Glenn, Christina Hayes, and John Dickerson by opening fire all around the location with two different shotguns and a pistol.  Mr. Glenn and Ms. Hayes both died from shotgun blasts.  Despite Mr. Dickerson being able to survive the attack, he is blind for the rest of his life due to the gunshots to his face.  Doctor fled the scene and was arrested two days later by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
