Kershaw County man sentenced to 15 years for drug trafficking, weapon charge

On Aug. 10, Theodore Donnell Sheppard pleaded guilty to one count each of:
- Trafficking methamphetamine, 10 to 28 grams, second offense
- Trafficking cocaine, 10 to 28 grams, second offense
- Trafficking crack cocaine, 10 to 28 grams, second offense
- Trafficking methamphetamine, 28 to 100 grams, second offense
- Trafficking fentanyl, four to 14 grams, first offense
- Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
The Honorable Debra McCaslin sentenced Sheppard to 15 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
In November 2022, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) began investigating several drug overdoses in the Lugoff and Camden areas of Kershaw County. The investigation led law enforcement to Sheppard’s residence.
On Nov. 11, 2022, KCSO narcotics investigators executed a lawful search warrant at Sheppard’s residence. Investigators recovered several baggies containing methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, crack cocaine and marijuana, as well as several firearms, digital scales and distribution baggies.
On Feb. 7, 2024, KCSO narcotics unit investigators executed a lawful search warrant at Sheppard’s residence. Agents recovered a large quantity of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, along with marijuana, two firearms, digital scales, and baggies.
Sheppard advised law enforcement that all the drugs recovered from the home were his.
Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office Deputy Solicitor Curtis Pauling prosecuted the case. KCSO Capt. Brad Lawson and Lt. Lee Young led the investigation.
