Man sentenced to 45 years for violent Camden home invasion
November 12, 2025
A Kershaw County jury convicted Troy Douglas Jenkins of burglary in the first degree, two counts of kidnapping, armed robbery, assault and battery in the first degree, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime on Nov. 7. The convictions stem from a 2023 home invasion in downtown Camden. The Honorable T.W. McGee, III, sentenced Jenkins to 45 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
Evidence showed that on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, Jenkins broke into the home of an elderly couple. He attacked them with a knife, injuring the husband, and then demanded money. Jenkins fled the house after the husband retrieved his firearm.
The wife called 911 as Jenkins ran down Lyttleton Street. Cpl. Jordan Sanner with the Camden Police Department (CPD) arrived within four minutes and found Jenkins nearby. After a brief foot chase through the neighborhood, officers detained him on Chesnut Street.
Deputies with the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, including Sgt. Billy Sowell with K-9 Koda, helped search for Jenkins. They found the couple’s stolen cash and a KFC work shirt belonging to Jenkins along his escape path. A neighbor later found the knife used in the attack under a brush pile and turned it over to CPD.
The Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office prosecuted the case. Assistant Solicitors Michael Bradbury and Paul Walton led the prosecution, with assistance from Investigator Chris Davis. Detectives Carl Olson and Carmen Oxandaboure investigated for CPD.
