On April 20, 2024, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) agents and officers from various agencies arrested 13 men and rescued two dogs during an active dogfight in Eastover.
Authorities seized over $84,000 in cash and multiple firearms at the scene. Law enforcement charged each suspect with criminal conspiracy, presence at facility of animal fighting or baiting, and two counts of ill treatment of animals.
The Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office, represented by Assistant Solicitor Emily Burn, prosecuted the case. SLED’s Dog Fighting Unit investigated.
