On July 17, 2025, a Richland County jury found Eric Donnell Greene guilty of murder in the death of Morgan Duncan. The Honorable Jocelyn Newman sentenced Greene to 57 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.

In early December 2023, Duncan’s family notified law enforcement that they had not seen him since late November.

In February 2024, authorities charged the defendant with Duncan’s murder after a witness reported seeing Greene strangle him, though the victim’s body had not yet been found.

Several months later, Duncan’s remains were discovered in a creek bed near Parkland Road, close to the apartment where he was last seen alive.

Over the four-day trial, the jury heard testimony from several witnesses, including two who testified they saw Greene strangling the victim in an apartment off Parklane Road. Prosecutors presented evidence showing Greene was familiar with the area.

Richland County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Chris Mastrianni led the investigation. The Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office, represented by Senior Assistant Solicitor Kathryn Cavanaugh, and Assistant Solicitors Nicolas “Nick” Fowler and Joseph “Joe” Kreush, prosecuted the case.
